La Escuela de Hospitalidad y Turismo prepara sus estudiantes para desempeñarse en áreas directivas de las organizaciones públicas o privadas dedicadas a la actividad hotelera y turística, como también a emprender proyectos de la industria de manera eficiente y exitosa. El programa de estudios contempla una sólida formación teórico-práctica con vinculación internacional, y la carrera está orientada a la toma de decisiones basadas en estrategias empresariales y creación de negocios.

Esta formación les permite a los estudiantes desempeñarse en el sector turístico y de la hospitalidad a nivel global; comprometiéndose con el desarrollo sostenible e inclusivo del Ecuador.

About UDLA

The Universidad de Las Américas (UDLA) is a private university founded in 1994 and is located in the center-north area of Quito, Ecuador. It has four campuses in the city and a research farm less than two hours away. This program is open to all majors and no academic prerequisites are required. Undergraduate and graduate students interested in Ecuador’s biodiversity and culture are encouraged to apply.

Program Details

The program focuses on both Ecuador’s cultural richness and its environmental biodiversity. The country’s different traditions and ethnicities from the highlands, coastal regions and the Amazon will form part of the subject matter, as well as its ecosystems and endemic animal species in each zone.

  • Introduction to Ecuador´s cultural diversity: our unique history and geography
  • “Mestizaje:” How to understand Cultural Diversity in today´s context
  • Ecuadorian people and nations: traditions of highlands, coastal and Amazon regions
  • Quito: world cultural heritage site


  • Introduction to Ecuadorian biogeography and ecology
  • Ecosystems and protected areas
  • Climate change and species conservation
  • Sustainable hospitality and tourism factors of local development in Ecuador

Classes on the UDLA campus are complemented with excursions to Quito’s Historic Center, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the best-preserved historic center in South America, and other places in Quito. One morning will be designated for bird watching in a nearby botanical garden.

Tourism outings around Quito are also planned.


The second part of the course comprises two trips outside Quito:
