In 2015, the Global Health Program was created as the first multidisciplinary and interprofessional academic program of this type in Ecuador. The Global Health Program is part of the Faculty of Health Science, which includes Medicine, Physiotherapy, Nursing, and Veterinary Medicine. It is known for having a Simulated Hospital, Interprofessional Clinical Simulation Center (and a satellite center located in the local Hospital: Novaclina Santa Cecilia), which is the largest and most complete center in the country, and a robust Standardized Patient Program.

The Global Health Program also promotes exchanges for UDLA students and professors with international universities that have agreements signed with UDLA. Currently there are agreements signed with universities in the United States and Europe for medical rotations.
